Recipes: Caramel Bars
Ingredients
Base
- 100g Margarine
- 50g Caster Sugar
- 75g Plain Flour
- 75g Oats
Caramel
- Small can condensed milk (Fussels 405g)
- 100g Margarine
- 50g Soft Brown Sugar
Icing
- 100g Margarine
- 50g Cocoa Powder
- 2 Tablespoons water
- 300g Icing Sugar
- Grease a 12" x 7" tin. Preheat oven to 180 degrees centigrade, gas mark 4 or 350 degrees farenheight
- Cream 100g margarine and 50g Caster Sugar together
- Mix in flour and oats
- Press into tin and bake for 15 minutes, then allow to cool
- Melt 100g margarine, and add condensed milk and 50g soft brown sugar over a low heat
- Increase heat and boil for 5 minutes stirring continuously
- Pour over base and leave to cool for at least 30 minutes
- Melt 100g margarine and stir in icing sugar and cocoa.
- Add 2 tablespoons of water, and if necessary up to another 2 tablespoons
- Spread over caramel and leave to set. Can be dusted with icing sugar.
- When set cut into pieces
