November 2004 exam results

Result from my November Statistics 1 exam was a mediocre 77, so marks are now (UMS, max 100):

  • Pure Mathematics 1: 83
  • Pure Mathematics 2: 92
  • Pure Mathematics 3: 98
  • Pure Mathematics 4: 82
  • Pure Mathematics 6: 68
  • Mechanics 1: 97
  • Mechanics 2: 83
  • Mechanics 3: 67
  • Statistics 1: 77

So 747 in total, 27 clear of an A on average, though I need to have a chat with Mr Thomas about what to resit because of module restrictions in the Single/Further Maths parts of Double Maths.

The three maths exams I just sat were Statistics 2, and resits of Pure Mathematics 6 and Mechanics 3. The Mechanics paper seemed to go quite well and noticed most of my mistakes. Spending half a page working out the difference between the sum of 0.4 and 0.5, and 0.9 was 0 was a bit of a waste of time and I managed to use a completely random figure for one calculation noticing a bit too near to the end to fully amend my working. The experience of having an exam by myself was cool though, and trying lots of extra past papers as revision worked much better than for P6 which went significantly worse so along with S1 I might resit again in June.

Economics unit 4, the work and leisure paper had a strange first half which didn't seem much like the past papers we've prepared from. For the essay I did the question on inelasticity of supply and how to improve efficiency in the labour market though looking back perhaps the minimum/maximum wage question was easier. As it's not in any of my offers I wouldn't think I'd resit it.

Progress review day was quite cool, I didn't have my usual long chat with Mr Thomas but most of the interviews were more productive than previous ones, lots of advice for Cambridge!

In other strange news a "normal schoolboy" has discovered 5 errors in the Encyclopaedia Britannica.

StatCounter

I had absolutely no idea there were so many people looking at this site. Having setup a new visitor stats page I've had 50 unique visitors today. Previously tracking only the front page I was averaging 7 a day for the past 7 and a half months. Wow!

Audioscrobbler

Wasting time when I should be working? Never.

I've just setup a page at audioscrobbler that tells you what I've been listening to in iTunes.
